In order for your Premium Membership purchases to be Instantly Activated, you must purchase through the new PM Instant Activation page, linked from the Services menu in the left column.
You can still purchase memberships via the VR Store, but it is not recommended that you purchase memberships in this way. Purchasing via the new PM Instant Activation page assures that your membership is activated in the quickest manner possible.

Update completed today:
PROFILE BACKUP
Premium Members can now restore their own Profiles to a previous state. Each night, Premium Member Profiles are backed up. A 7 day rolling back up is maintained.
This new feature protects Premium Members against accidental editing errors. With one click, a Premium Member can restore their profile to its state from a previous date.
The Profile description, Style Code, and Graphic colors are restored. Pictures are not backed up.
The link is in the User Menu, under Profile.
This feature is for Premium Members only.
As this feature was just implemented today, it will take a week for the backup's to accrue.

You can now comment on Vampire Rave Journals. You can leave multiple comments on a journal-entry basis.
You cannot rate Journals.

A lot of rumors have been circulating about GothicInvasion.com. Please stop circulating rumors.
GothicInvasion.com is a site I am currently developing. The site is not complete. I expect to finish it sometime between Christmas and the second week of January.
Google indexed the site early, so quite a few people have stumbled upon it.
I would appreciate it if you wouldn't log into the site until I complete it. If I have to, I will shut off access to it. A lot of things are still in development and I shouldn't have to be answering several dozen questions per day about the site.
For some time I have been working on a project called The Dark Network. Please visit that site for a full overview. There's 3 or 4 pages to read, and it will give you a really good idea of the changes that are going on.
I will no longer answer questions about The Dark Network, Gothic Invasion, SciFi Section, or any of the other sites I am developing. As I have said, these things are not done.
There is a very large VR expansion that is in progress. Please be patient.

Two new VR features have been added.
The first is called, Clear Journal. The link is in the User Menu, under Journals. This page will allow you to delete all Journal entries, or all entries in a specified section. This new feature is available to all VR members.
The second addition is Private Journal Entries. If you are a Premium Member, you can now create private Journal entries. An entry marked private can only be read by you. Not even Vampire Rave Administrators can see private entries.
You can also go back in your Journal and mark existing entries as private.

I've restored two of the former Vampire Rave favor games: Hangman and Scramble. A new link to VR games can be found in the Main Menu under Members.
Favor is no longer awarded for playing games. All Vampire Rave members can now play the games.
I have cleared all the existing leader boards.
I will restore more games as time permits.

Today there was a partial drive failure on the drive that stores Vampire Rave messages. The data was being mirrored and the error propagated throughout the mirror.
Messages that were lost cannot be recovered. Not all members were affected. At this point, it looks like about 1/3 or Vampire Rave members lost their messages.
I will be rewriting the Message Center this weekend. I will apply an additional backup layer beyond mirroring that will help prevent this problem from reoccurring in the future.
You may get some intermittent errors when trying to message certain people. These errors will vanish once these people log into Vampire Rave. One of the self-maintenance programs I wrote a while back rebuilds a members account (in this case message box) if anything is wrong with it when they log in.
No aspect of VR was affected except for messages.
The messages that were lost cannot be restored. As I've already stated, I'll be working throughout the weekend to improve the system and prevent this from happening again in the future.

Message transfer is going to take longer than originally projected. It is moving very slowing. After more than 12 hours, a little less than 20% of VR members have had their messages moved over.
Be patient. They'll make their way over eventually.

We're up online with the new server. As of right now, VR messages are still coming over from the old server. This may take a very long time (12 hours or more), so don't panic. Your VR messages will eventually make their way here.
As previously mentioned, Portfolios are now offline. I hope to have the section re-written and back up by mid-week.
I expect there to be a few glitches over the next few days. Let me know of ANY unusual activity.

The Vampire Database submission process has been revised. When you make a suggestion for the database, your suggestion goes into a queue that the Procurators have direct access to. This should speed up the submission and approval process.
If you've submitted items under the old system and they were never added to the database, you'll have to resubmit under the new system.
The new submission forms are at the base of every Vampire Database section page. You will only see the form if you are logged in.

A new Vampire Rave section has launched: Vampire Rave Mobile.
VR Mobile is a part of Vampire Rave that has been specifically designed for mobile devices. If you have internet on your cell phone, PDA, Blackberry, Sidekick, or other mobile device, VR Mobile will display pages in a much quicker and more mobile-friendly fashion.
VR Mobile doesn't cover all of Vampire Rave, but from within it you can quickly and easily send messages, access VampBox, and basic Profiles. More content may be added in the future.

The Forum has been updated. Specifically, how The Sandbox operates has been updated.
All open Sandbox threads that have not been posted to in 30 days or more have been deleted.
All RIP and RIA Sandbox threads have been deleted.
This will continue to be the policy of The Sandbox. The threads that were accumulating there were not relevant to Vampire Rave. It became a place for people to falsely increase their Status.
Forum post counts have been updated. If you lost a lot of Forum posts it was due to The Sandbox deletions.

Page Tracking in the Journals section has been totally rewritten. The old system is not compatible with the new, so all previous viewing data for Journals has been cleared.
This shouldn't be too big of a deal, page tracking in Journals is less important than profile or forum page tracking.
Clear NEW! for Journals has been totally eliminated. There was really no need for this function and it was just wasting server CPU and database space. You've either read a member's Journal or you haven't.
The new system is far more efficient and will result in faster Journal processing times.
The Favorite Journals page has been modified. Now you can only see 10 Favorite Journals at a time.
The only real inconvenience of this update is you will have to go through your Favorite Journals and load pages you may have already viewed in order to clear out the NEW! markings. But the end benefits far outweigh the inconvenience.

New section added to Vampire Rave: The VR Manual.
The VR Manual covers Vampire Rave policy and operation. The answers to the most common Vampire Rave questions can be found there.
Vampire Rave operates under precept of Ignorantia legis neminem excusat. Everything you need to know is listed in the VR Manual. If you break VR policy it is assumed that you knew what you were doing was wrong. The VR Manual exists to inform you of VR policy and workings. If you choose to remain ignorant, you choose to do so at your own peril.

Changes have been implemented in the Message Center.
If you have more than 50 messages in your Inbox you will no longer see them all. You must either delete or move the excess messages to reach the hidden ones.
The messages are there. You just won't be able to access them until you get your inbox into acceptable order.
There are 278 members with 50 or more messages in their Inbox.
There are 149 members with 100 or more messages in their Inbox.
There are 24 members with 500 or more messages in their Inbox.
There are 6 members with 1000 or more messages in their Inbox.
Why do some of you find it so impossible to keep a clean Inbox?
This limit does not currently apply to the Saved or System boxes.
There is a new Message Center function 'Email to Self'. You can now email VR messages to yourself. Messages will be sent to the address you have associated with your VR membership.

I am going to be writing a new function that will allow a member to easily email messages to themselves. This new feature will be available to all members.
After that is in place, I will give members some time to organize their boxes, and then I will implement the new Message Center rules.

New policies are going into effect regarding VR messages:
Messages that have been read and which are in your inbox are deleted after 14 days.
Messages that have not been read and which are in your inbox are deleted after 30 days.
Non-Premium members can have no more than 25 messages in their Saved box.
Premium members can save unlimited messages.
It just seems to be too much of a bother for some members to keep a clean inbox. Having hundreds of messages in one's inbox in not acceptable.
These changes will go into effect on December 10th. You'll need to perform any critical message reorganization before then (IE, clean saved messages out that really aren't important or the system will pick based on message age).

There is a new contest in play. The prize is a Vampire Rave Lifetime Membership.
The first member to receive 1000 Referral points and max out their referral bonus will be awarded the prize. If you win and already have a Lifetime Membership you may gift your prize to another Vampire Rave member.
This will be a long-ranging contest. It will take some time for a member to receive 1000 referral points. There is a new category on The Top page, Most Referral Points. There you can track your position among other Vampire Rave members.

Today I completed the following site updates:
Forum Search
Fixed the date bug on the Forum Search page.
Increased the overall search speed and efficiency of the page.
Vamp Box
The user VR System will now make periodic announcements to Vamp Box when important system activity is going on. Examples include server restarts or other system critical events.
Portfolios
Fixed the display problem on the main Portfolio page, caused when Premium Members used style code in their Portfolio descriptions.
Vampire Database
Updated the entire section so it behaves like the Profile and Portfolio sections.
Ratings were fixed. Status power is now reflected in Vampire Database items rated.
Stalking
Total section overhaul. There were quite a few bugs in this section and they have all been fixed.
You'll now see the total number of members you are stalking reflected in the Main Menu.
Who's Online
Fixed the display ordering. Ordering is now based on Status, then percent of next level completed, then membership seniority.
The Top
Removed the section Highest Status.
Added the section Has the most Stalkers.
Member Articles
Finalized the new section. Page Tracking is active and you can now sort based on items you haven't rated. Status is also taken into consideration when ratings are tabulated.
Status System
Changed the Status Table regarding ratings. The new scale is much easier and will hopefully discourage those people who rate just for the sake of rating. To achieve a score of 28 in this section (Sire), you need only a rating percentage of 63%. Your Status could have only increased as a result of this change. This change has become more and more necessary as the site grows, and rating all site items becomes more and more of an impossibility.
Added Member Articles as ratable items that affect Status.
You can now see what members are at what level more easily. Go to the User Levels page and click on a level. The linked page shows all users at the level you click on. Ordering is based on percentage of the level completed, with ties being broken by membership seniority.

Profiles
Fixed the "double rating" bug for Profiles. Under certain circumstances, a user might end up rating the same Profile multiple times. All duplicate ratings/comments were deleted from the database. As a result, the number of times your Profile had been rated, or the number of Profiles you had rated may have decreased.
Premium Membership
Added a new feature for Premium Members: Journal Customization. Premium Members may now rename sections of their Journal.
Friend List
Fixed a bug where some Friends weren't showing up as offline.
Fixed the "Anonymous" bug.
Ads
Ads were moved to the top of all VR pages where the Premium Member Menu is located. When a Premium Member is logged in he or she will not see the ads. All other users will see VR ads in that spot.

Fixed a bug in the News system. Complete dates are now displayed.
User Log In
Added a username lockout system. If a user tries to unsuccessfully log into an account more than 3 times, that account is locked for 10 minutes. This code will help prevent brute password guessing attempts.
The Top
Fixed a bug where rankings were being improperly displayed for top women and men profiles.
Journals
Fixed a bug where time stamps were sometimes null for journal entries.

If you click on the nick of someone who has posted, it links to their Profile page.
Truncated the rolling history log to 12 hours.
Reduced the font size in the left hand column. It's not small enough. VR usernames can be up to 30 characters in length. Members with long names are screwing up the display.. I am going to have to create a fix that chops names that are too long.

Polls were temporarily removed until I can create a better polling system.

The Sun
Fixed up The Sun window in the left hand column and put it back in.
Premium Features
Re-coded the Who has Rated you page.
Results can be returned in ascending or descending order.
Pages are broken down into 100 rating blocks.
Message Center
Fixed a bug where old messages were not being deleted. If your inbox just got a bit lighter, it's because messages older than 30 days were finally deleted. Saved messages are never auto-deleted.
I am very happy with the changes I have managed to institute over the past 2 days. Server load has been reduced by over 400%.

Premium Members can now change the color of the graphics on their Profile page. Click 'Edit Profile' then look for the new configuration box, 'Custom Vampire Rave Graphic Colors'.

I made a small change to the Status System. Your Status could only have increased from the change (if your Status changed at all). Some people may see as much as a 2 level increase.
The change was necessary, otherwise when you achieved Sire, it would just about be impossible to hold the level (you'd keep dropping back a level every other day or so).
I plan to post in depth Status System information in the coming weeks. Included will be what is required for each level, along with how you are ranking in each of the categories.

Major revisions to The Message Center. Multi-Delete is now enabled. Additionally, all users now have a Saved box. Messages in your Saved box will not show up in your message count. The Delete All Messages link will only delete all the messages in whatever section you are in (Inbox or Saved).

There's a system bug I am chasing, and it has been difficult to trap. Apparently some members status has been reset. If this happens to you, I need you to message me immediately with the time and date it happened, along with the VR URL you were viewing at the time (if you know).
To my knowledge it has only happened twice. And I think I might know what the problem is, but I need more information.
The good news is that the VR database is backed up every night, and I store incremental backups. This means I can restore your status to a particular date if there is a problem. If you delete and then re-sign up your VR username, don't expect a status resumption.
This does NOT apply to members who have slipped back ONE level. This is normal, and is built into the new status system. See #5 in the FAQ if you need an explanation. I'm getting sick of all the messages asking Why has my status dropped?

I completed some site updates. You can now change your rating and comment for any profile you have already rated. This would be most useful if someone made their profile better and you wanted to adjust your rating. You can also now add or edit a comment for a profile even if you keep your rating the same.
I added a "last on" line to each profile. It's near the "profile creation" and "times viewed" lines.
I added a "Who's Online" page. The link is in the left-hand column.

There were quite a few profiles building up where new users signed up, but never edited their profile. As a result, I changed how profiles are listed. A new profile will not show up as an entry unless it has been updated at least one time.

If you experience any errors, please email the error to me, along with what you were doing and the url (in the address bar of your browser). If you were submitting some type of data, try to recall what it was. I need to be able to duplicate the error in order to fix it.
